How I did it: As with my other sets (check them out on my page and make sure to smash that support button), I used my own game copy as well as the Subnautica Wiki and built a base in the Grand Reef, then painstakingly recreating that base using the LEGO Digital Designer. The base includes many base-building elements straight from the game, as well as fauna and flora from the biome itself. It is called "Underwater Base in the Grand Reef", and it depicts the player's large underwater base in the biome known as the Grand Reef. There is also plenty of room here to build a sizable base, ideal for storing the various vehicles at your disposal in Below Zero.

While this ship can't be totally explored from the start of the game (you need to get geared up before certain areas are accessible) having a base nearby does make it a bit easier to explore later on. If you decide this is a good spot for your base, you will be close to the wreck of the Mercury II.

If you build really close to the Vents, there are some weird clipping issues that can happen, even in the game's full release. Keep an eye out for them if you want to utilize their energy for a base. There are other geothermal vents located throughout the waters of Below Zero.

The Purple Vents are located to the east of Delta Island. The geothermal vents at the Purple Vents can be harvested with Thermal Generators, which basically gives you unlimited and consistent power for your base. Powering your base, particularly in the early game, can be a bit of a chore.
